Training

While training is not the solution to all of your performance needs, training is essential to ensure that your employees have the skills and knowledge to perform the desired behaviors. When you observe your customer interactions, it is critical to remember that there are several reasons why employees are not performing up to the desired level of standards.

Those reasons include:

  • They do not know how to perform the behaviors.
  • They don't believe that the behaviors are important and so they opt not to perform.
  • They don't think anyone is watching or listening to them and it is easier not to demonstrate the required behaviors.
  • They don't see any consequences for not performing the behaviors and so they choose not to.
  • They feel that they know what is best for the customers and so they follow what they believe to be the best way.
